The view northward across windward East Maui after getting dropped off at the fenceline on top of transect 8. Pu'u Alaea is to the left, Ko'olau Gap is in the distance, and Frisbee Meadow Camp is just visible below us. We landed in a native deschampsia grassland just above treeline near station 7, where we began counting.
