Sunflower Galaxy / NGC 5055

Sedro-Woolley, Wa.

This galaxy located at RA13deg 16min Dec +42deg 2min in the constillation Canes Venatici was discovered in 1779 by Pierre Mechain.
It is located about 37 million light years away.
Celestial North is to the left and East towards the bottom.
The field of view of this exposure is about 1 by 1.5 degrees centered at about RA: 13h16m00.326s DE:+41°59'40.01"
UGC8313 is fairly easily seen to the upper left of NGC 5055 / Sunflower Galaxy. Other unidentified galaxys can be seen on closer inspection.

Skywatcher 120ED F7.5 900mm FL
16 X 10min. exposures stacked using nebulosity.
5 dark/bias frames with 16 flat frames used in preprocessing.
Final processing with Canon DPP
