Taken two days prior to the inauguration ceremony 26th January 2011, this is the Bordein being assembled in a theme park situation on the Nile Bank at Omdurman. The Bordein was salvaged by the Dervish armies and as part of the Dervish “Navy” was recovered by Kitchener at the battle of Omdurman. A side wheeler paddle steamer she for many years lay in sections in the North Khartoum ship yard. Now re assembled she is part of the old Omdurman fortifications as a major tourist attraction.
