20110330 - 2, 088,89, 90, 91 SERIES - Snow Geese.jpg

Lancaster

Five images:

Top image: Pano of four images showing the geese roosting on the far edge of the ice and/or swimming beyond the ice. Note: the U.S. shore is clearly visible in the distance. Also note that this is only a small snapshot of the Geese which seem to have taken up temporary residence over several kilometers along the Canadian shoreline of The St Lawrence River.

Image showing the Geese on the ice across from where we are taking pictures and along the far side of the bay.

The Geese on the far side of the bay appear to be spooked and are starting to take off. This may be due to the presence of several Eagles reportedly seen (by others) to be flying overhead. I suspect that the dark bird at the top right may be an Eagle.

All of the Geese on the ice along the shore from where we were taking pictures took off too right after the ones across the bay did. Note there are no Geese left on the ice nor in the water. Note also that the U.S. coast-line is no longer clearly visible.

Close-up of Geese in flight along the shore from where we were taking pictured.

At Chincoteague/Assateague we witnessed eagles flying into the group - I've seen the eagles on the ground with a goose. Lovely shots. Incredible sight!
