Each spring thousands of Black Brant Geese migrate from their wintering grounds in Mexico to their nesting grounds in the Artic and make one stopover on the east coast of Vancouver Island. They stay for about 6 weeks in March and April and during this time our beaches are closed to dogs as these small beautiful geese are very shy and nervous. They rely on being able to feed on the eel grass to sustain them for their continued flight to the Arctic.
