Japanese Anemone

When I see these flowers appear in my garden I know that Autumn is on the way.
This name is loosely applied to a collection of anemones, many of which have never had any association at all with Japan.
They have tall, strong, willowy stems supporting large, open, saucer-shaped blossom.
