The seiner captains decided not to trawl for the herring roe this year due to the economic problems in Japan after the earth quake. Most of the herring are harvested for the roe that is exported to Japan and is normally a very lucrative catch.
They also act as mother vessels for the small gill netters who are now fishing for the herring. The beautiful colour of the water is the milky roe from the herring spawn. Lots of photographer out for the few hours without rain...
