Five images of recent odd encounters of waterfowl.

Top Image: CAUGHT NAPPING, but unlike yesterday's posting of a pair of Common Goldeneyes ( see http://www.pbase.com/hankvv/image/133076833 ), this "ODD" couple wakes up briefly to check their surroundings. "ODD" because this lone Barrow's Goldeneye seems to have acquired a lady Common Goldeneye.


A lone Dark Morph Lesser Snow Goose was found with a large flock of Canada Geese. In this image I caught it swimming alongside the much bigger Canada goose.


Two female Mallards having a squabble over some food or perhaps a man. The lighter Mallard is leucistic.


A small male Common Goldeneye looks surprised as he surfaces right next to a much bigger female Common Merganser. He appears to be in a hurry to get away.


Two female Mergansers. The Common Merganser is the largest and the Hooded Merganser is the smallest of our North American Mergansers. They were found swimming amongst a large flock of Mallards and American Blacks. They have reportedly been there with the Mallards for most of the Winter.
