My Crappy Life

For the third year, I am not getting a raise. Healthcare is going up. I am poised to take a pretty big hit in my financial situation this year. Working more, for less. Fantastic.

In addition to that, I have a secure job. I’m getting paid less, but I have a job that isn’t going anywhere. Unbelievable. And the horror continues......I have not one, not two, but THREE beautiful, healthy daughters. Why me???

I will have to cut out some of the more frivolous expenses this year to keep things running smooth. Starbucks will become the exception, not the norm. I work hard and I shouldn’t have to give that up. To further add to my problems, I have a nice house and a great wife that keeps things running smoothly.

For the first time ever, we may have to skip on vacations in the summer. Poor us. On top of missing vacations, I have a great circle of friends. Friends that stick by me, through thick and thin. Friends that I would go into battle with.

I had to take TEN furlough days this year. TEN!!! Imagine the horror of that. I know some people have lost their jobs, but TEN?? Why me?? On top of that, I am healthy. I don’t have any life threatening diseases that I am worried may take me from my family.

A lot of this was pointed out to me by a friend. While I am feeling sorry for myself, I kinda miss the big picture sometimes. Things will work out. They always seem to. Life is fluid....ebbing and flowing. Adjustments have to be made along the whole way.

Yeah...I have a horrible life.

Well....maybe not really THAT bad.

Actually.....truth be told, it’s better than I deserve.

We all have to cut back at times. Me being unemployed...well, I've had to give up a lot of things, like eating out, doing anything outside of just basic living. Vacations will consist of travel for photoshoots, not for relaxation. But, with the love from God, family and friends, we will all be okay. I still have my house, just have to make some changes. Getting a roommate to help with the bills and just being alive is a blessing. You are blessed. Things may not be the best right now but you know you will get through. You are in my prayers daily asking God to protect you and keep you safe so that you will be around for many more years to come for your family.

At first I thought, "what the heck". I'm glad you realize how truly blessed you are. You're right, you have a beautiful family, wife, home, lots of food, automobiles that run, closet full of clothes, rooms full of toys. Yes, you have a lot to be thankful for.

Perfect shot. Maybe you should have joined the Navy when you were young enough. Not much of a raise for us this year but we do have free government healthcare.

Well spoken. If the photo is any measure, you have a quite colorful life! How horrible... :-)

You have a Keurig. WTH do you need Starbucks for anyways? ;)

The big hit is you won't be able to buy the 20 cases of OO buck for the Zombie Apocalypse.

An interesting read.. the elements you put together will surely get reactions from people. Imagine.. the horror for you to have 3 beautiful healthy daughters. Imagine less Starbucks, well you can complain to your wonderful wife in that nice house. Imagine skipping a vacation (in that nice house that to some of us would be a vacation just for a day!) And friends, you have them, can we imagine.. that's all some can do. :) Yeah, it's not THAT bad.. but I bet not 'better than you deserve' by far. You can still get sarbucks sometimes and get a truckload of sand and pitch a tent in the backyard.. might be a vacation your girls will remember forever! :)

It's nice to be reminded of how fortunate we are in others eyes. Great story and matching photo, Jim!
