After church this morning, David and I made a trip down to Rose's Seafood in Kemah and got some fresh Gulf shrimp. Back at the ranch, we transformed those shrimp into shrimp tempura and shrimp fried rice. I made four different dipping sauces, honey mustard, oriental mustard, sweet and sour and Thai sweet chili sauce. The last one was great and I have to thank my son Robert for the suggestion to make that one. We also got some sake and Kirin beer. The food was great! The sake was terrible. Not being a sake snob, I had never really tried it. We all agreed that cheap wine (vin ordinaire, for you wine experts) would have been better. The Kirin beer was nothing to write home about. It was a little troubling to note that it was a pretty dark yellow, making me wonder about its origin. Bottom line: food good, drink not so good. Life is good!
