....sigh....
This PaD thing is harder than I remember. Man, once you miss one day, it is so easy to miss another, and another, and another. I have been taking pictures, it’s finding the time to post them that is getting me.
I have not been just “taking” pictures of any old thing. I have actually started getting up and going out with the INTENTION of taking pictures of whatever. I forgot how fun that is. No plan, just going.
Last week we had several inches of snow come down. Then one night, it got warm. And it thundered. And it rained. A lot. All of the snow melted with the rain and it all had to go somewhere. That “somewhere” was the basements, roadways, valleys, and anywhere else that water could go. Thankfully we stayed dry but there were houses with 4 feet of water in their basements. I can’t imagine. I have so much important stuff in my basement. Stuff that can’t be replaced.
I went out on this day to look around. I took this in the Cleveland Metroparks. It was more incredible than this picture shows. I talked with a ranger that said this is the worst he has seen it in the 35 years he has worked for the parks. Because of the flooding, the roads were closed everywhere. I had to park and hike in from about 3/4 mile away. Through the flooded woods, over the hills, there was no direct route. I really had fun again.
I am a purpose driven person. While I say that I like to go out with no plan, there is a plan. That plan is to find something worthy of being documented. The Weather Channel came to me and asked me if they could run this shot. They ran it a couple times that day with nothing more than credit to me. It was cool that they came to me. I never submitted it to them. I offered my services to them if they would like to give me a sweet expensive account for cameras and flights anywhere they want to send me, as long as it isn’t in the middle of a hurricane, tornado, drought, flood, or cold. I haven’t heard back from them yet, but I am holding out hope.
I am off tomorrow. I think I may head out again. Just to see what there is to see.
