Four close-up images of male Goldeneyes. When I arrived at the site, I found about a dozen Goldeneyes fairly close to shore. Usually in the past, they would scurry away to the far side of the open water as soon as they would see someone stopping to look at them, let alone trying to photograph them. This morning. however, they paid little attention to me and appeared simply to be content to show off to their ladies doing their courtship displays. They must have finished their dinners as well as they were doing very little diving. The males were generally just preening, congregating in small groups and showing their stuff often near one of the females who generally appeared to show little interest in their antics.
