A large ship travels upriver to receive it's cargo. The bulbous bow on this ship modifies the way water flows around the hull, reducing drag and thus increasing speed, range, fuel efficiency, and stability.

When the ship is loaded the bow will be underwater. The tug in the background gives an idea of it's size.
