Light of this quality is rare even in Scotland and of course always fleeting. Looking across Kanaird Bay towards the amazing blood light flickering over the flat tops of Beannan Beaga was an astonishing sight but what really floated my boat was the rock shaped like the inverted sole of a babies foot complete with toe pads that jutted out towards it breaking up an otherwise non-descript and featureless shoreline. This turned out to be one of my absolute favourite shots of last year.
