Getting ready to roost

Not much energy for anything today after a marathon
session covering the General Election count yesterday (until 2.30am this morning)
and again today. It might have been history in the making, but it was mostly
boring and tedious.
Got home in time to take Fudge for a walk and saw these starlings getting
ready to roost. Think I'll follow their example and go to bed early as I have
to catch up on my beauty sleep.

Again a very charming scene, fluffy clouds and the familiar sight of roosting birds, love it. Universal theme. V

I agree with Alan, the birds in motion are a nice touch and give the image some action...and as always Mairead, a super commentary!!!

very very nice!

It is always worth passing by and see what you put up in pictures and words... No history in making in politics, let us wait and see what the birds are up to - might be more interesting... Uschi (V)

The starlings sound like politicians in debate - great motive for your election weekend! V!

Who knows? Maybe they're having an election too!

David sure has a way with words...just like you Mairead. Have a good
rest.

Always fascinating to watch how they work out who sits next to who!

Tedious maybe...but it beats dodging paving-stones :o)
Interesting how they all face the same way. I wonder if the first one to land gets to choose the direction...

I like the mixture of those at rest and those arriving. I think there is political metaphor here. Hope things improve.

a bit of a whirlwind the election...and an as-predicted result, with Fianna Fail turfed to the margins and Fine Gael in the ascendancy...it's still a long road back for Ireland..we'll see who comes home to roost and who flies above to lead the way..love this sharply observed scene..V

Having the two or three in motion helps make the image.
I've often wondered, with all of the computing and networking power at our disposal, how it isn't possible for votes to be input via terminals at the polling stations in such a way that the results can be known the very instant that the poll closes. It would perhaps make for less drama and fewer photo ops on polling night, but considerably more efficient administration. (Until a new government takes office anyway, at which time it'll be back to government by politicians so it won't make much long term difference.) The starlings probably don't care either way...

Thoughtfully composed, like musical notes on a bar. V

Nice natural looking slice of life and interesting commentary as always.

I was reading about your elections in today's newspaper. Interesting times! And a nice shot of these starlings against the pretty skyscape.
