bedtime

it's bedtime again for the winter sun...I've been considering putting this gallery, now at 120 images, to bed as well, and starting a 3rd Vancouver collection

this raises the question of what might be an ideal length for a gallery...a lot of my earlier ones were cut off at 60 images, still true for travel galleries, and other more recent ones allowed to grow to 100 photos...so, is there an optimal size for a gallery?...or can they just keep growing as is the case with many galleries of pbase friends, in particular the PAD galleries which can go for a full year..would welcome any thoughts on this issue

other sizes: small medium large auto

Yeah, I'd limit to 100...I need to archive some of mine as they are well over that number. Nice work on this...so beautiful!

Lovely sky David making a well layered image. As long as the new images are the first to view I don't mind large galleries but I do like them all on one page. I think Walter is right on with a max of 100 for most...

It is my opinion that while you pay the bill you get to choose...I only dislike split pages, mostly as I don't have time to wait for each to open...JMHO :)

Beautiful Sunset image with this lighting and focal length. "V"
My formula is max 100 images @ 5 wide on a single page. That makes for 20 rows and is still in the realm of the viewable. For the PaD Galleries, show the last 6-8 months only and archive the rest in sub-galleries at the end of the gallery.

No idea how far a gallery must develop, perhaps when the next shot can add some extra to the old ones.. And this can not be measured in figures. This one is great David, BV

Beautiful sunset scene, David....V
Sorry, no clue to the optimal size for a gallery....mine stretches from 30+ to 200+

Beautiful night-time image, David. ~
(I prefer galleries with 100 to 150 images all on one page rather than those that go on and on.
Although, when the artist loads their recent images at the beginning, those can be much longer - like the yearly PADs)

Super gentle sunset, just right for bedtime :o)
Dunno as to gallery size. I hate when they're split into pages, but they can quickly get so big that you switch off and don't bother... there must be a magic number...? 50, 80? Dunno! lol
