Here's three traditional symbols of Korea:
- The Dolharubang 돌하르방 (aka 돌하루방) which is a stone grandfather statue originally created larger than the size of an adult man and proudly displayed in front of homes on the semi-tropical island of Cheju for the purpose of warding off evil spirits. They are now popular souvenirs for tourists to Cheju and people buy them in hopes of bringing good luck.
- Right of the Dolharubang is an A-frame backpack/rucksack called jigae 지게 that was traditionly used by laborers and farmers in Korea along with an original stick used to prop up a jigae packed with a heavy load.
- Left of the Dolharubang is a basket called bajigae 바지게 which is used in concert with the jigae by securing the the bajigae to the frame of the jigae.
Both the jigae and the bajigae are at least 40-years old (perhaps much older).
