Thanks everyone. Sorry about the anachronism but the supermarket was fresh out of 17th century glassware and nutcrackers(LOL)...

The composition is excelent, the light is good, the nuts are genuine, the colours fits the atmosphere, the shot angle against the glas is good either. The Glass itself and the nutcracker are anachronistic.

Very well done.

if they had a camera during those Flemish/Dutch interior paintings of still life, this would be one of those masters.

Like the other said: the colors, the light and a very careful composition make for a great photo.

Your effort paid off here.

Four hours? no onder I don't have anything like this! 1/4 hour is usually my limit in setting up a shot :)
Wonderful warm tones here... and I feel like I can touch those walnuts.

Super job, a real painterly feel to this

Thanks very much. Don't say you won't be able to come close Brenda - like everything else it's a question of trying more than anything. This took me the best part of 4 hours.

Hear, hear! This is wonderful and I agree with all previous comments. Still life is a genre I've not done well with, so I'll study yours to see how I can improve (but I won't be able to come close to this kind of result, though).

Very impressive and carefully thought composition. I like the colour in particular.

Beautifully lit and I love the walnuts are a favorite of mine. Really a great job Frank. I would say it is perfect. Something I appreciate is that the glass is spotless, that's an important thing to me.
