Formerly named the Triborough (or Triboro) Bridge because it connects three of New York City's five boroughs (Queens, The Bronx and Manhattan).
The part pictured spans the Hells Gate (part of the East River). Construction was begun in 1929 and opened to traffic in 1936. Picture taken from Astoria Park.
