Earlier in that trip I felt I was rapidly getting a flu bug in Taipei. I found the quickest way to get to the US was to aim at Hawaii with transit stop in Guam.
Happily I can report a quick recovery as the small Western population located in Taipei would travel home or to Hong Kong for serious work including childbirth...or so I was told.
