There will always be a special place in my heart for former Ambassador Dr. Sang-Jin Choi, Brig Gen (Ret) . It was a distinct honor to work with him for over 10-years as faculty members both teaching Korean at DLI since 2000. His diplomatic aplomb honed as an Ambassador and Consulate enabled him to write and administer the most unique student counseling statements imaginable e.g. when someone hadn’t done their homework or had failed a test he’d preface the counseling with his admiration for the student having volunteered to serve his country during a time of war…”but you must do your homework”. Ironically this very same Dr. Choi and I had both written articles published in the same AUSA magazine a year before we met each other at DLI’s Korean in the year 2000.
