In Vicksburg, Mississippi a retired riverboat once served as a tourist attraction and venue for amateur theatrical productions. Alas, it burned to the water line one day and sank, a total loss. But in an enviable spirit of frugality the townspeople fished out the remaining scraps and fashioned them into the garishly colored poles visible in this kids' park in the city's "Catfish Row" tourist district. (Note my tasteful inclusion of the city's one architecturally attractive building. It's the red brick former railroad station in the distance, behind the wires.)
