Alphabet Song
Width 448 x Length 552

This project has been a labor of love. The story of the seamstress pulled at my heart strings. From that moment, I knew I had to chart Alphabet Song. This would be an heirloom for my family. I found the design in a book named "The New Work of our Hands" by Mae Rockland Tupa and published by Chilton Book Company in 1994. Thank you to the publisher for giving me permission to chart this wonderful, original silk screen.

After I started, I thought that maybe others would enjoy stitching this piece. I realize that this project looks daunting, but please take a look inside and read some of the instructions and you'll find that you will be able to do it. Sure, you're not going to finish it right away. I started this project in 2007. I would work on it for awhile and then put it away so I could work on another project. Then take it out again and work some more. Of course, the tale took the longest. I decided to tackle that a little differently. Look inside to see my solution to all the petit cross stitches. You could also substitute a tent stitch (half cross stitch) for the petit cross stitches. This would cut your time down a lot. I know you're thinking, "There are so many pages!!" This is not a sign of high complexity, but my wish to make it an easy chart to read. Thus all the pages.

There are so many people to thank for their help. Thanks to Debra at The Attic for her suggestions, proofreading and encouragement to publish this piece. Thanks to Sandy at the Attic for taking the time to find the perfect frame for this and all my other pieces. Thanks to Jean, The Attic owner, for her generous designer discounts. Thanks to my daughter, Trace, who is the angel girl of my life. She is the forever artist with suggestions and encouragement. She is also the only reason I'm able to attend Nashville 2011 because without her help and wisdom, I would be lost. And last, but certainly not least, the official photographer, computer guy, bagger, helper, hugger and friend, my husband, Greg. He has never wavered in helping with everything whether I'm overwhelmed or not.

Do you have a pdf of this? I'm in the middle of stitching it, and it would be so nice to not have to rely on my paper copy.
