This Whistling Kite is caged in Melbourne Zoo. lt was photographed by a friend.
lt was 'liberated" using the spot healing brush, Contact Aware and a heap of patience.
Also used was the clone tool. The face was lightened selectively with Curves,
and importantly the eye was separately lightened also with a selection, using Quick Mask
so as not to interfere with the rest of the image.
Blown Highlights were attended to using mainly the clone tool,
which is one of the main editing tools imo.

other sizes: small medium large original auto

You did a great job on this one. I like how you eliminated the fence and added more detail to the face!

Top marks for perseverance.
That's a huge task and done to v high standard
My older photoshop version doesn't have 'Content Aware' but sounds useful.

My god, I'd be suicidal if I had to try my hand at this.
Hal you have done a fantastic job on this picture.
I don't think I would have the time or the patience to tackle something like this.
A great job.

Wow, Hal. I am impressed that you would tackle a challenge so daunting as to remove the wire screen. Nice explanation of your workflow.

your work flow so clearly.
