Lamoine, Douglass County, Washington

Lamoine School
I stumbled quite accidentally upon this teeny tiny little community out in the middle of the prairie yesterday called Lamoine. I've never heard of this place or even seen it on a map. There were about six homes that all looked like they probably were family and all farm the same general vast area. This historical school house was like a large chunk of gold sitting out in the open just waiting for an intrepid photographer to snap a few.

Oh, what a find! The stories it could tell. Are those your footprints?

A nice building - you capture the sense of vastness, I guess no ex-pupils are alive today.

Congratulations on your find, Jim. (I bet it was cold in that schoolhouse in the winter. The construction was not too robust.)
You will probably be returning to this spot again in other seasons. It is just so photogenic.

Great story and excellent picture with the strong feeling of loneliness and abandonment!

This is beautiful Jim, and those foot prints as the lead in line, magic.

Well that's bleak and exposed to the elements and well preserved
for its 86 years of existence.
Glad you were the intrepid photographer who grabbed some shots Jim.

the snow makes it look good.. and also how it must have been in winter.. well
they would have had a wood stove... the path is a great leading line... we get our snow later this week so maybe pictures will be better but I have liked being snowless.

This shot is making my feet cold...
Well imaged, Jim.
This shot is easily underexposed, but you certainly nailed the exposure...
