Throwing a lei away is akin to throwing away the love of the person who gave it to you. The proper disposal of a lei is to give it back to nature. I can think of no more fitting way to dispose of a lei than to scatter it over water that covers the USS Arizona. I had not known that people did this prior and had I not been saving my lei for an anniversary picture later in the day, I would have done the same as many before me.
