Tasting the Stars

A Christmas Tradition in my family.

After the festivities of Christmas Eve, the gift exchange on Christmas Morning, the family sits down for Christmas Dinner. My oldest son presents his grandmother, Nana, with the final gift. It is always a bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne. All the adults share in the gift.

The quote attributed to Dom Perignon, a 16th Century Benedictine monk, "Come quickly, I am drinking the stars!" is supposedly what he said when tasting the first sparkling champagne.

No candle here, just a Mini Maglite.

Pops, I enjoyed reading your family tradition. It is all a part of the fabric that makes these holidays special.

Now about this image.... 30 second exposure!! Did you used a candle, LOL! I do love the warmth of the tungsten glow and you captured some great detail in the cork.

Sounds like a nice tradition Pops. Nice lighting and dof on the cork. Regards, Michael

I see he buys gram the cheap stuff huh! One bottle of that stuff is all anyone can afford.
That's a nice tradition that would not be possible in my family since they all have passed on many years ago. Enjoy your family holiday traditions as long as you can.
