Last night we attended an annual Las Posadas in Klamath Falls. When I was a child we went every year. In Mexico, they have one each night between the 16th and the 24th. Some are neighborhood or "barrio" wide, others just neighbors or by the parish. We even had them in Skid Row Los Angeles when I worked there. Here, the Spanish-speaking folks from Sacred Heart Catholic Church have one yearly and invite the community. This is my granddaughter and a friend participating last night.
The Posada is a little musical play. The people behind Mary and Joseph go from home to home (or door to door in this case) asking for shelter. Each resident says "go away, we don't know you". Finally the last door invites everyone in for a fiesta of Mexican Hot Chocolate, empanadas and piñatas for the kids. This is the song that is sung;
