A couple of times while I was photographing the deer I stopped to offer the chickadees a few handfuls of sunflower seeds and peanuts. Within seconds of making my offering to the chickadees I found myself surrounded by a whole flock of them! I then put piles of seeds on top of snow caught up in the needles of coniferous trees (too cold to hold my hand out!) and took a couple of photos of the chickadees as they came in for a share.
A small flock of Common Redpolls was also moving through the woods this morning. At home I still have the odd visit from Pine Siskins and Bohemian Waxwings continue to be seen in widespread places.
