Alfred belongs to neighbours, but he seems to like our yard and can often be found sitting by the back door trying to get in! He shows no interest in my four cats who (indoor cats, all), will sometimes sit and look at him, nose to nose through the glass. Nor does he show much interest in the squirrels and birds that come to the feeders (fortunately). He seems to adore my German Shepherd, Tasha, and will twine around her legs and nuzzle her when she goes out. Mostly he wants human company. I go outside and pat him, but I haven't let him in yet...
