A fine study this owl and a perfect face-focus!

He is giving you the look... this is the owl that eats the other owls... he likes to eat saw whit owls, boreal owls and short ear owls..

Very nicely done Steve. A big difference.

Great job, Steve - it came alive!

Thanks all for you kind comments. Thank you Terry for the advice on the catchlights - I have replaced the image and it does look much better.

WTG, Steve. You should be proud of this photo.

Wonderful Steve! I am totally envious.
As a suggestion, if you want to play with your
image a bit, I found there are a couple of hidden catchlights
in the owls eyes. If you can bring them out it will
bring your wonderful image even further to life.
(I do this all the time)

Excellent shot with well placed subject and nothing else to distract

He is keeping a close eye on you Steve, a lovely shot and composition.

Fabulous shot, Steve. I envy your experience of getting
this close to an owl in the wild.

These birds are very beautifully camoflaged...and amazing to see. Their shape when they are perched, certainly would not suggest how expertly they fly. This is a magnificent specimen.
I am actually surprised you got this close; the owls I have encontered are very shy, very "wild", as is demonstrated by the number of photos of them in my galley.
Fine shot.

Thank you Jeff and Hal. I can't speak to the comfort Hal, but this perch did overlook a large field which I suspect is perfect for a hungry owl.

lt doesn't look the most comfortable perch,
but a wonderful photo of a wonderful bird Steve.
Wish we had some here.

He found his own solitude, peaceful and without interference.
Excellent capture, Steve!
