Across the via S. Egidio from the Biblioteca delle Oblat is the hospital of Santa Maria Nuovo.
The Oblat was originally a convent for the nuns who nursed the sick in the Ospedale. The Ospedale was founded in the 1300's by Falco Portinari, the father of Dante's Beatrice.
