On Nov. 29 I went out for a day of photography with a friend. We roamed all around North Eastern Pennsylvania shooting mostly landscapes. We decided late in the day that it was going to be a dramatic sunset and thought we’d head to a high mountain with a fabulous view. I was driving and we stopped here to take a few quick shots from this farmer’s field. Everything was going fine, and we both were having a great day and photo outing. We returned to the car to finish the trip of about fifteen minutes. As I was driving along I got to feeling funny? My arms were heavy and I felt like I had heart burn. (Not surprising since we had Mexican food for lunch.) By the time we got to the overlook I knew that something was really wrong and that I should get looked at. My friend took over and quickly drove me to the ER at the Berwick Hospital, in Berwick, Pa. where within seconds they informed me I was having a massive heart attack. I was shocked still thinking, "bad heartburn", because I had no history of heart trouble. They decider to “Life Flight” me by helicopter to Geisinger Medical center in Danville, Pa., which is a regional trauma center. The doctors did an emergency Cardiac Catheterization and put in two stints in my blocked arteries. I was informed that my artery referred to by the doctors, as the “Widow Maker” was 100% blocked and if everything hadn’t happened the way it did I wouldn’t have made it. I guess God was really smiling on me that day, and I feel so grateful to be alive and feeling well. (A bit tired and no energy) I am so happy for each day now, and for my family and friends and especially my little grand son. Anyway, thanks you so much for those of you that sent well wishes (mostly through Facebook) I’ll try to visit around flickr and say hi to my friends as I have the strength to do so. Please bear with me. It’s great to be alive and back home.
P.S. I’m never going to eat Mexican food again.
Regards to all, and this really was, nearly my last photo-ever.
