This Diwali party had it all (or at least seemed to). A silver carriage pulled by a decorated horse, a small wagon containing electric organ with horn-speakers on top, men carrying gas lamps on their heads, a brass band in end-of-pier caps and tight scarlet uniforms, fireworks in the road, self-important attendees walking down a red carpet through gawking onlookers, guards shooing away street kids, a small gaggle of handicapped spectators. Enormous firework explosions continued through the night.
