Taken just outside of Guadalupe River State Park. I was taking a workshop with the Monarch Joint Venture folks at the Cibolo Nature Center in Boerne, Texas; several people from that area had mentioned that the Queen butterfly's caterpillars had shown a red tinge this year. I was lucky enough to see one and photograph it. I've never seen this red coloring in this caterpillar before.
