This is the Bab al-Maqam (Shrine Gate), a project of al-Zaher Ghazi and rebuilt under Barsbay (r 1422-38) and later (1493) Qait Bey. It is in Arab fashion but "more ceremonial than defensive with three opening, the wider central one for wheeled vehicles".
