When I found this Monarch, the damage had already been done. You can see the Wheel Bug's beak sunk into the Monarch. The Wheel Bug kills by paralyzing and injecting an enzyme which turns the innards of its prey into liquid which it sucks out through its beak. The female Monarch shows no outward damage.
