What this is Oakland (aka Oakterdam) Ca, of course it is a Japanese Maple. What else could it be? ;) Woody

This is a wonderful illustration of how color can combine with the perfect light to make for an outstanding shot. I think these are Japanese maple leaves but they always make me think of something else. :)
