Spider - Cross Orbweaver

Thanks to "Dang" for the I.D. Pretty large
With legs, about the size of 1/2 Dollar, maybe slightly larger.
Must be a female, from what 'Bug Guide' suggests too.
So maybe we'll have some babies come spring!
These are extremely interesting to watch - how sensitive to
the movements of their webs, telling a fly from a gust of wind,
or from a humans touch. They are really neat. I've always sensed
a certain intelligence, it seems anyway, in spiders.

Nice shooting, Barri. The Oly has better magnification than than my Minolta A2 at 200mm with it's 2X zoom, a Canon 500D and 2 additional diopters. Imagine you'll be hunting more of these guys now. :-)

Wow! That's a close-up all right, maybe a tad too close for me LOL! Good shot though Barri, lots of lovely arachnid details...
