Got an S95 today to play with. I took a little walk outdoors with it to test it out. For the most part, I'm not overly impressed with the in camera effects. All of the BW shots I did I had to post process, including this one. It needed a bit more contrast and overall tone work, I think I also added a bit of a vignette to drop some of the highlights in the corners.
The S95 has a number of in camera effects AND the S95 has the ability to shoot RAW + Jpg, however, you can't do both at the same time. That is very lame. I've been doing this for years in my LX3 so I feel like I lost something here.
I will say that the S95 rocks as far as a true pocket camera is concerned. All the butons and switches are well thought out, you won't be accidently tweaking the buttons when it is in your pocket or tankbag (as will be the case for me).
I have a G12 arriving tomorrow so I can pit the LX3, S95, and G12 against each other and settle on one. Right now I am leaning towards the LX5, which I didn't get yet.
