1st C142 Art and the Meaning of Life - a gardener's canvas - brenda

Original oil painting by Beatrice Wilson-Smith; flowers grown in my yard by Mother Nature - I set up the shot outdoors so I wouldn't have to pick them.

Excellent. Took a little o realize how you did this, first I thought you applied a PS effect with a mask! :oD The overall result is wonderful. I like also how you show the connection between reality and its interpretation in art.

It is beautiful and thanks for the explanation. Instead of the photoshopped frame, you need another hand
to hold an empty frame in front of the flowers.. :-)

Yep, Goffen et al - it's a real painting of rudbeckia in a field. And the foreground rudbeckia flowers (same kind as in the painting) are also real, only they're still in my garden. They aren't actually "in" the painting, they're in front of the canvas - which I held behind them with one hand and took the shot with the other. That was a stretch, let me tell you! Hah.

The frame is photoshopped because I couldn't really frame the real flowers, since they're still growing out there. The painting has a frame but it wouldn't have worked because of the flower stems overlaying its bottom edge.

Clear as mud, right?

Glad you like this! I had fun thinking up what to do.

Good one Brenda !

So, real canvas, real flowers in front, and real frame in front of that or added frame in PP ?

I love it when you start to look at a picture and then suddently your brain discovers that something "ain't right" and theres a puzzle to figure out what's going on.

I like that the flowers appear to have a smooth texture, it makes them pop out from the background.

Thanks Richard. The painting is oil on canvas so the texture is real, not a photoshop art filter. Glad you like this!
