A sunny day and great water conditions were all that was needed to lure locals and tourists to the beaches of southern Vancouver Island. I'm not sure who was happier, the divers for the opportunity to get out for and afternoon dive or me for being able to get some photos of their preparations!

Jacques Cousteau proclaimed that the spectacular coastal waters of British Columbia, Vancouver Island and Nanaimo are 'the best temperate water diving in the world, second only to the Red Sea', and from 2001 onward Rodale's Readers' Choice Awards have consistently ranked British Columbia as 'the' best place to dive in North America.
