SEPTEMBER 13

Sugar Land TX

Today is the 2 year anniversary of Hurricane Ike's attack (see below). Hopefully nothing that bad will come our way again.

Hurricane Ike was the third costliest hurricane ever to make landfall in the United States.
Ike made its final landfall near Galveston, Texas as a strong Category 2 hurricane, with Category 5 equivalent storm surge, on Sept. 13, 2008.
Hurricane-force winds extended 120 miles (193 km) from the center. In the United States, 112 people were killed, and 23 are still missing.

It looks lovely and calm today. thanks for reminding us of Ike. My son was there loading elders on a bus before he fled with his trailer before Ike arrived.

Mother Nature can certainly create havoc; however, this in contrast, is so peaceful...

it looks so peaceful now, with all those ducks on a row,
the weather extremes can change landscape suddenly into a disaster
as you have experienced

Hard to imagine when looking at such a calm and serene scene that nature can be so destructive. I think the odds are in favor of this not happening again. Let's hope that is true!

It looks so serene and beautiful. A superb shot, Lynn. I remember reading about Ike, and it hardly seems like two years ago already. Hopefully no more like that will occur.
