Turbine speed controller

The turbines spin at 3000 rpm. The speed is regulated by this mechanism, similar to the ball regulator on steam engines. Here the balls are cylindrical steel blocks. If the speed increases above normal, the centrifugal force causes the steam valve to close. The valve is also the manual emergency shutoff.
