7th - Gloomy Sky

near Farmcote, Glos. view map

I was chatting to a good friend and fellow tog at work today who gave me some encouraging words about my land- and cloudscapes and instructed me in no uncertain terms to go and get some tonight, because while he liked the macro work, "you REALLY should get out more Doug and capture some of those big Cotswold skies..."

So Brian, this is for you :o) I thought all was lost what with the cloud and all we'd had today, but I think the B&W processing works with this gentle scene

BTW, for those of you with an EXIF bent, I have been surprised on occasion (tonight being one) to notice that the 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 stops down to a healthy f/29...I only mention this since I must have nudged the command dial when I was composing, I certainly didn't chose f/29 for this shot LOL!!! (Note to self: take more heed of your camera settings, you numpty!)

Glad Brian spurred you on. This is beautiful. A fantastic point of view.

A decent shot in the gloom! ... the f29 keeps the sharpness all the way to infinity

Nicely done at f/29!

Beautiful hay bales under the "gloomy" sky. :)

Very nice. Agree - it works well in monochrome.
