The trail ended at Lower Aero so from here on out everything was technically off trail. We followed the western shore of the lake and sections where we had to boulder hop, scramble, or skirt snow patches were a pain when we were already fatigued. We intended to camp at Upper Aero Lake (an additional ~2 miles) to put us in better position for day hiking the following days.
