The history of the abbey of Bonne-Esperance begins with a donation: in 1125, the lord of Croix-lez-Rouveroy gives a part of his domain to canons' young community which has just formed in Premontre (near Laon) conducted by some Norbert, priest of German origin, for that the predication operated on several conversions, notably on that of the son of the lord of Croix-lez-Rouveroy. Arrived in 1126 under the behaviour of Odon, the first monks occupy several sites before settling in 1130 on the current site of the abbey; they give to new foundation the name of Bonne-Esperance/Good - Hope.

L'histoire de l'abbaye de Bonne-Esperance commence par une donation: en 1125, le seigneur de Croix-lez-Rouveroy donne une partie de son domaine a une jeune communaute de chanoines qui vient de se former a Premontre (pres de Laon) sous la direction d'un certain Norbert, pretre d'origine allemande, dont la predication a opere plusieurs conversions, notamment celle du fils du seigneur de Croix-lez-Rouveroy. Arrives en 1126 sous la conduite d'Odon, les premiers religieux occupent plusieurs emplacements avant de se fixer en 1130 sur le site actuel de l'abbaye; ils donnent a la nouvelle fondation le nom de Bonne-Esperance.
