Dedicated in 1938, the 75th anniversary of the battle, at a ceremony attended by some 250,000 including 1800 veterans, both north and south. Located on Oak Hill which overlooked the McPherson ridge and farm to the south and from which Confederate artillery pounded the Union troops.
