Castle Clinton National Monument - Located in Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan, this site was originally built as a fort during the War of 1812. Over the years, it has served many functions including an opera house, an aquarium, and an immigration depot. Today, it serves as the ticketing area for tours to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.
