JetStar Airbus A320 VH-JQX appears to be "chased" by an unidentified Virgin Blue aircraft at Sydney's Kingsford Smith Airport, while two unidentified British Airways aircraft (one a Boeing 747, showing how old this photo is) watch on.
(BA has previously operated 101 747s in passenger service; the sight of a BA747 was once, arguably, one of the most recognisable sights in aviation. By July 2020 that was down to 31, but of course that was when the pandemic's effect on air travel went to town and in July of that year BA announced their immediate retirement. The last one flew out of Heathrow on 8 October 2020, a little over 10 years after this shot was taken.)
Jetstar is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas and is aimed at the value and travel market. You know, the passengers who don't mind if they never actually reach their destination as long as the fare is cheap, those people?
In any case, VH-JQX was delivered to Jetstar in July 2004. In October 2020 (long, long after this shot was taken) it was transferred to QantasLink, Qantas' regional subsidiary. As of August 2022, as far as I can see it's still working there.
